Offline Payments

Offline payment mode is not currently enabled in Flow POS. The app requires an active connection for in-person payments, payment links, invoices, and subscriptions.

Status: do not rely on Flow POS for offline payments yet. Flow POS does not currently queue offline charges, store offline reader payments, or sync offline payments later.

What Flow POS requires today

API connectivity

Flow POS must reach the Flow POS API to prepare charges, create hosted links, and complete payments.

Stripe Terminal connectivity

Reader and Tap to Pay flows require the native Stripe SDK and Stripe services to be reachable.

Hosted payment connectivity

Payment links, invoices, and subscription links require internet access because customers pay on Stripe-hosted pages.

Retry when online

If the device loses connection, reconnect before starting or retrying the payment.

Planned offline considerations

  • Offline payments may decline later when they sync, so merchant risk messaging must be clear.
  • Unsynced offline payments are not visible in Stripe Dashboard until submitted.
  • Refunds are not available for unsynced offline payments.
  • Offline mode is subject to Stripe Terminal limits and reader/platform support.
  • Tap to Pay and hosted links still require internet and cannot be used offline.
